Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my blog! This is a season for firsts for me.
This is my first blog, I have created a teachers pay teachers store for the first time, and I'm planning to create a youtube channel. These are all new experiences for me and I am excited to see how I will learn and grow as a result.

I have been teaching now for 15 years and have a range of classroom experiences from kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades. I earned my master's degree in educational administration this June with the support of my wife and daughter. Though I have the preauthorization for my administration credential, I plan to remain in the classroom for the time being.

In my experience, the classroom is a dynamic and demanding environment. It is a balance of the science of teaching and the art of human relations. The classroom is the place of great highs and lows. My assumptions and beliefs are challenged there and I am stretched and grown each school year. I have come to find that I must seek out my colleagues for support and I reciprocate in kind. The answers to our challenges come from within our professional learning community and I have found my coworkers to be a second family for me.

I hope to get better every year. I wish to change lives for the better. I want to aide my students to be what they are created for. I strive to do this with love and kindness.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and read my note!
God Bless,
Don

Inspirations

Where do you find your inspiration? At the end of the school year, I reflect on my practices and think about how I can make them better for the future. Sometimes these reflective practices continue into summer and bear fruit in the new school year while other times my ideas die on the vine and I stop thinking about work until the end of summer. I am determined to make the choices and changes to bear fruit this year. How will I do this? To begin with, I have found that while stressed, I tend to eliminate the good and healthy practices I had at one time established. I am using this summer break as an opportunity to reinvest in myself. I am doing this by: Returning to healthy eating habits (paleo) Beginning to exercise again Spending quality time with my friends and family Focusing on my spiritual growth Spending time working on my professional development I have already started seeing results. I've lost several pounds by eating healthier and exercise. I feel more connect
